I came across this useful website today. It allows you to type foreign characters without a foreign keyboard.
You can usually do that anyway if you have the appropriate update for your operating system (I have that for Korean on my keyboard).

Actually if you have a macbook you don't need that because you can just hold a letter down and chose the accent but that website might come in handy.
