Favourite children's book

Childhood memories

If there's something on your mind that just doesn't seem to fall into any of the other categories, well, it quite likely belongs inside Joe Finneman's marketplace. Think of it as a general store for general discussions!

Just saw this thread, and saw people talking about the Trixie Belden books. Wow, I didn't kinow people still knew they existed!
Catspaw wrote:I loved hearing about Trixie's relationship with Jim! I never got to read the last books, because I couldn't find them back when I was interested in the series, and my public library didn't have nearly all of the books. I always wondered if their relationship got a bit more serious by the end of the series, or if it just stayed the same. Does anybody know?
I have the next to last book, and have read the last, and it pretty much stays the same. It seems that right in the middle of the series is when there was a lot of focus on their relationship!

Of course, there's like, five or six "newer" books out, so I've heard, and it's my wish to get them, and to see them get together! :D

Thanks for the info, Bearliz! I guess that they didn't really want the relationship to go any further, since they are geared towards kids. I haven't seen any of these newer ones, but they probably aren't as good as the old ones - new stuff usually isn't. :(

I was in a bookstore the other day and saw a new series of Hardy Boys books, and a new one for Nancy Drew as well. They looked kind of dumb - has anybody read them? I can't remember what they were calling the serieses, but it was definitely different from both the originals and the casefiles books.

Depends on what they're called. My brothers collect every Hardy Boys they can, and have some from every different series, I think....

I read a few from the library, and they're ok. Definately not as good as the older ones, but they're new so they have computers and all kinds of cool stuff like that.

As there's more of them...they all start to sound the same. The same thing happens in every one....they find a mystery, their lives get threatened, they solve the mystery....

Watson always says that too - they hit their head on the window and BOOM, they're out cold. :D

Ah...children's books.

When I was younger I thoroughly enjoyed:

Berstein Bears (sp?)
Dr. Seuss books
Encyclopedia Brown (the co-olest! ;))
Trixie Belden
and...The Good Master.

Those are just a few... 8-)

Was anyone able to solve the mysteries without looking in the back of the book? I wasn't. :anxious: There was probably like, one in the whole series I figured out on my own.
