Re: STAR TREK Into Darkness
I got the impression they didn't even realize that it's a joke at this point, that they only used it to make themselves be like Star Trek 2 and genuinely thought it was appropriate to use it after the death scene. That's what it felt like, since the tone was not one of joking at all. Which makes th...

Re: STAR TREK Into Darkness
I liked it right up until the extremely horrid ending. It was interesting, there was a very interesting moral dilemma. There were two villains, both of which were entirely menacing and definitely much more believable than the previous villain. Benedict Cumberbatch, especially, was absolutely brilli...

Re: Lotr and Narnia vrs Harry Potter
Narnia, LotR, and Harry Potter are all great works of literature that are or will someday be recognized as classics and forced upon unsuspecting high school English students everywhere. Twilight is emotional porn for women. It's as simple as that. A romance novel that somehow became mega popular. h...

Re: Are Atheists /Agnostics /Etc Alike?
Because we like the idea of having the ability to chose for ourselves rather than have someone chose for us. If you were to go to a restaurant and someone chose what you were to eat, you might get a little upset. Well imagine that for your entire life. Hence slavery. We don't like slavery because o...

Re: Facebook
Actually, not having a Facebook would be the hipster thing to do. Since Facebook is so popular. I think of hip being what's the cool and popular thing to do (i.e. have Facebook)...different from hipsters who go against what's popular on purpose. Perhaps that's the wrong definition on my part. :P Ex...

It requires an extra character to type! Thus you're using an extra key stroke and overexerting yourself.

Re: Are Atheists /Agnostics /Etc Alike?
What do your base your morality on? As in when you are trying to decide if something is moral or not, what do you consider? Well when formulating a morality, you have to decide what is most important in your morality and than make judgement calls as to whether something is moral based on what you d...

Re: Trumping Bible Verses
Oh my gosh. Some of these are just ridiculous. The harmonization between some of them is so easy that nothing even needs to be said. Some can be solved very simply by switching to a more modern translation that won't give us problems because of the Old English. But, I will hand it to you, JJJJ, som...

Re: snobby vegetarians
I'm pretty sure that's specifically about the Jewish law, not vegetarians, some people think it's ok to eat meat and some people think it's not according to the law of the Torah. And during the early church years, that would have been a big issue, whether or not to continue with the law of the Tora...

Re: Doctor Who- Best/Worst Episodes
season 3 again, the first 3 are good, then some subpar ones, and then from Human Nature to the end, it was brilliant. Really didn't like the Dalek's in Manhatten episodes...Blink was my first episode, so it holds a special place in my heart, even if it loses it's brilliance after spotting numerous ...

Re: Trumping Bible Verses
You're right. Some of them are obvious that they're not as big of contradictions. However a good majority are very contradictory. WW, you picked the ones that were easy to reconcile. But therein lies your problem CA. Heh. CA. That's just an assumption. There's no basis for that assumption. It's a g...

Re: Trumping Bible Verses
Except that the Bible doesn't really make sense if it was written or even "inspired" by an all-knowing, all-powerful deity. There are far too many contradictions. An all-knowing God wouldn't make contradictions at all. Since, you know, he knows everything. It does make sense, however, if ...
