*sounds like a rhino* I am so frustrated with brennan right now.
(my little brother)
He won't listen to anything that my parents tell him to do, and when they put me in charge he goes insane and screams out of windows, answers the door to random people (even though I tell him not to), doesn't do his school (and what he does, he spends 5 hours on), and most of all, talks down to me. (Tells me I'm ugly, fat, stupid, etc... it's no wonder I have a low self esteem.) And believe me, that's just kindergarten stuff compared to what he does daily.
I just don't know what to do... his case seems worse than the normal "obnoxious brother" stereotype. I just want to scream. I try to tell my parents, and most of the time they believe me, but he won't listen to them. Even after he is punished, he still does the same thing over and over again. It's like he doesn't learn!
Anyone know what I can do? Or what I can help my parents do?
Sarah
Bwa ha ha ha ha... reform school, anyone?
Gahhhhh!
BRENNAN! *chases*
I don't have any personal experience with this, so I can't offer any tried and true advice, but it sounds like couselling or something might be helpful. Has he been checked for learning diabilties or stuff like that? ADD etc. could be part of the problem, which medication could help with. If it isn't something like that, then maybe a pastor or somebody could help him deal with the root of his behaviour issues.
Again, I'm not an expert, and I'm not talking from experience, but those are a few things that crossed my mind.
I hope the situation improves! Remember that you are special and valuable to God (and to us!) even if your brother says otherwise!
It takes a lot for me to succumb to using the hug smiley! Know that I'll be praying, Sarah!

My son has ADHD and my nephew that I have on Sundays has Aspergers (a form of autism). Sometimes meds are the answer but not always. The things that I have found the most helpful
1. You MUST be consistant
2. Don't become visibly upset
3. Don't be drawn into arguments- repeating your request is ok but don't get involed in explanations
4. Take a step back- leave the room for a minute, wash you face, something
5. Pray
6. Love, Love, Love
