I have not had time to do much reading lately, but I am trying to make time for it. I am currently reading Between Heaven and Mirth, by James Martin.
I finished The Unvanquished, very interesting book. Up next is The Roads We Follow by Nicole Deese.

What a great book title! Sounds interesting.Polehaus53 wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2024 12:00 pm I have not had time to do much reading lately, but I am trying to make time for it. I am currently reading Between Heaven and Mirth, by James Martin.
I'm reading "Style for Everybody" by Kim Appelt. It isn't the kind of book I would usually read, but I heard her do a long radio interview and it made me curious about the book. I want to prioritize having only things that I like, that fit, and that look good on me in my closet, so if I actually make an effort to apply the book's wisdom, I think I'll be closer at least.
I finished All The Roads We Follow, very good. Up next for me is Double the Lies by Patricia Raybon, it is the second Annalee Spain mystery.

I'm starting "Moon Over Tokyo" by Siri Mitchell. I've really been enjoying re-reading through her older books and this is one of my favourites. I kept thinking about it as I was reading "Kissing Adrien," so I knew this had to be my next read.
I finished Double the Lies, good book. Up next for me is Voices From Gettysburg by Allen Guelzo.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Abraham Lincoln
I'm reading "His Small Town Girl" (or something along those lines) by Lacy Williams. I've read some of her historical fiction and this one is a contemporary story. It's decent so far. Not earth-shattering, but definitely holding my attention.
I finished the Gettysburg book, very interesting. Up next for me is One Final Target by Janice Cantore.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." Abraham Lincoln
I'm reading another Lacy Williams book - just a novella. I'm going through my Kindle books that I get free or on a good deal and then just...forget about.
I finished One Final Target, very good. Up next for me is The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh.

I'm working on Star Wars: Apocalypse and Speaker For The Dead audiobooks(sequel to Ender's Game) right now. Ender's Game was darker than I'm used to, but overall an interesting story. It's sequel's characters are more melodramatic than I prefer, but I want to see what happens anyway. Ender and Valentine's explicit dislike of Calvinism was weird and should have been further elaborated on too. Don't just portray us as idiots, but tell me why. Explaining wouldn't bloat the story at this rate.
"Patterson! You're alive!" "No, I'm not Patterson. I'm his uh... brother, uh... Shmatterson!"

What an interesting title, Laurie! I'm curious to hear if you would recommend the book once you're done.
I'm starting "Chateau of Echoes" by Siri Mitchell. I've been rereading through her books and just can't skip this one! It alternates between a modern story and historical story, and it's extremely well done.

I finished A Lady's Guide to Marvels and Misadventures, excellent. I highly recommend it. Up next for me is The Heart's Bidding by Kelly Irvin. It is the first book in her Amish Calling trilogy.

I might have to add it to my (always growing) list of books to read!
I started "Unearthing the Bible: 101 Archaeological Discoveries That Bring the Bible to Life" by Titus Kennedy. It's quite interesting so far.

I’m slowly going through several spy fic books by P D Atkerson. She’s a young Christian Indie author and I love her style and her writing. Basically all of the protagonists are antiheroes and they often get redeemed. She’s the only author who can make me cry. The last one I read was Web of Lies. I went on a spending spree and bought 10 more of her books so as with most bookworms, I’ll be set for a week or two. lol
