SWA, when you asked me to play a game with you, I didn't know I was being forced into a tournament. >_> Luckily, there's about a 2.1% chance that I advance past the first round. See you in like 5 hours, man. You can send the challenge and decide any options (like time per turn), as long as the game is still pretty standard.

Out of curiosity, why were Woody and Monty chosen as first-round byes?

Since we both already agreed on 10 o'clock tonight. Let's play live!? I was thinking 15-20 minutes to give you a lot of time?

Question: How exactly do I start a live game with someone? Joy and I tried, but it was a turn-based thing that gave us 3 days for each move. Bookworm?

If you are logged in, scroll to the top right of the page and leave your cursor over "Home". Select "Live Chess". After the page is done loading, look at the bottom right of the page, and select "Friends" tab. If one of your friends are online, they should show up. Then challenge them.

What is a swiss bracket? I bet it has a lot of holes.

Yep.

A swiss bracket indeed has a whole bunch of holes. But in essence you have for example 5 rounds. If there were ten players they would be paired 1 vs 5, 2 vs 6 and so on. Then they would be paired each following round against someone with equal or close to the same number of wins. That way everyone plays all the rounds.

SWA and I played some high-action games. He's won every time, though; including the one that we decided would be for the tournament.

The high action would be the one I'm posting. I blundered and lost my queen early on but won without realizing it. Great idea bookworm! The tournament games are nerve racking but the normal games with the ToOers have been a blast.
