I have held the position of our Historian for a number of years now due to my appreciation for the history of our message board. While I have done my best to provide interesting facts when appropriate and answer questions people send me from time to time, lately I’ve had the feeling that I should do more. Then the idea came to me that perhaps I should produce a series of ToO themed thesis papers. It would be an accessible way for people who are interested to learn about various events in our past, which is what a historian should provide.

So, that is what I shall do. Or at least attempt to do. I’m in the process of writing the first one, and once I publish it we can see how it goes. If the response is favorable I will continue. It wouldn’t be a super frequent occurrence, but I think it would be a worthwhile undertaking and a way to put my enthusiasm about our past to good use. I’m not sure how many people would actually be interested in such a thing, but it’s worth trying out.

In addition, I will be periodically editing this post to note links to various threads that I find historically important or interesting. I’ve been meaning to make an easy reference list like that for a while and I guess this is as good a place to put it as any.

I’m not sure why you ask, but if you’re questioning why I’d take the time to do this, that’s why I said it wouldn’t be extremely frequent. I expect each one will take several weeks or longer to compile, I’m not going to sit down and type it all out at once. As I have time I’ll write some things up, and then post it whenever it’s done. It’s just something to do in my spare time, as I happen to have it, that I thought would be nice for some people.
