You don't get to pick truth. There is good and evil, right and wrong, wise and stupid.
But you can dig up political truths and I'm here to help you do that. Personal questions are OK too.

What do you think of guaranteed minimum income?
This is not just a very interesting issue, it's a big one as well. Both parties (as usual) have very different ideas on this one. The Democratic candidates, Sec. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernard Sanders (I-Vermont) both claim that they can raise the minimum to 15 bucks an hour because, after all, can't big corporations pay for it?Moontide wrote:What do you think of guaranteed minimum income?
Mathematically, they probably can't and won't.
Take Walmart. Walmart employs 2.3 million people, 1.5 in the U.S. alone. Their revenue at the end of the fiscal year that ended a blink ago was $482.1 billion. They have 260 million customers in 28 countries under 63 different store names. Walmart isn't just a staple in the U.S. economy, they are a staple in U.S. culture and provide us with indespensable jobs and affordable nourishment that sustains roughly 0.5% of the American population.
They are also projecting the image of staunch capitalists, which I appreciate. They have promotional programs, mentorship opportunities, even college scholarships available for their brightest, hardest-working employees, and send the message, "Do more work, make more money." They invest so much that they have earned a tax break for their sustainment of the American economy.
There are hundreds more companies like this, large and small.
Would you describe yourself as a libertarian?
I would describe myself as Conservative. It's not like I can pay Liberterian dues anyway .Moontide wrote:Would you describe yourself as a libertarian?
What do you think of tariffs?
What's your opinion on the new ruling about gender and public school bathrooms?
-Tariffs will be the only possible solution if we keep raising the minimum wage and driving production overseas, so while I would like to see wages go down to drive job creation up, we will have to stick with tariffs for now until we can curb all this socialist insurgency going around.
-A total overreach of constitutional, legal, interstatistical, congressional, social, and even theological authority. The implications of making this kind of order after only consulting a bit of the population is insanity!

Do you believe that inequality a problem in the USA?
Even as an African-American I can tell you that inequality is the least of our problems in post-Mike Brown America.Moontide wrote:Do you believe that inequality a problem in the USA?

What is our biggest problem in a post Mike Brown society?
What would your solution to the transgender bathroom issue be?
Who in the GOP field was your favorite candidate this year?
Do you think we should take in more Syrian refugees? How many Syrian refugees do you think America has taken in since the Syrian conflict started?

-Let them use a private bathroom or, better yet, get them to some therapy. I can't believe that bathroom trespassing is suddenly the most controversial issue in America.
-Dr. Ben Carson, before his political meltdown, and later D. J. Trump.
-I would estimate about 6 to 8 million came here legally and another 800,000 got here other ways.

What about Dr. Carson do you like?
What about Mr. Trump do you like?
Actually since 2011, the start of the Syrian conflict, we have taken in 3,100 refugees. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2016/ ... story.html Where are you getting your numbers from?

Why do you like the two worst candidates who ran for the GOP nomination?
-His fresh, new ideas for the nation in years ahead! Shades of Ross Perot, minus the scam to put Clinton in the White House.
-Foreign policy, job ideals, etc. Besides, who else am I gonna vote for? Hillary?
-Rough estimate relative to media coverage.
-Any of them were better than a Democrat.

What is his foreign policy? How will he bring back jobs to America?SimplyDredge wrote:Foreign policy, job ideals, etc.
So what do you have to say about the fact that you were off by an insane amount? And do you think we should bring in more than 3,100 refugees?SimplyDredge wrote:Rough estimate relative to media coverage.
-Abolishing the IRS! Upholding free speech! Overturning Roe v. Wade!... -Nuke ISIS, build the wall, deport illegals, and put folks to work building up our infrastructure.

Who would collect taxes if the IRS was abolished?SimplyDredge wrote:Abolishing the IRS! Upholding free speech! Overturning Roe v. Wade!
What would be some ways he would uphold free speech?
Wouldn't Roe v. Wade have to be overturned by the courts?
Nuke as in actually use nuclear weapons? What about all the people in the cities ISIS is occupying?SimplyDredge wrote:Nuke ISIS, build the wall, deport illegals, and put folks to work building up our infrastructure.
Where will the money come from to build the wall, deport illegals, and fund infrastructure projects?
Also you guessed that America had taken in 6-8 million Syrian refugees when in fact there are only 4 million Syrian refugees to date. What news sources are you reading that led you to such levels of misinformation?
-Should not the money go to the treasury to begin with? Let them collect!
-Returning the ability for open discussion to facilities like schools and stopping lawsuits based on one's expression of faith.
-I project the next President will appoint four justices. You can swing a court like that.
-It is a calculated risk, seeing as though the population of Europe and maybe even America is at risk here.
-Cutting down on waste, fraud, and abuse.
-They are clearly getting double their share of media coverage.

lol @ someone literally thinking nuclear bombs should be an option against ISIS.
As far as upholding free speech, he's gone on record as saying he wants to make it harder for free press. Basically he wants to be able to sue for negative press.
Let's just assume that a couple of Trump's big issues would be great if they came to pass... the WALL and bringing back jobs to America.
Now, the Wall... yes, could be built. Would it really be worth it and an effective deterrent? Well, maybe, I dunno. But... Mexico will not pay for it. There is no earthly way that would happen.
As for bringing jobs back to US... that is great in theory and all, but the reason jobs are outsourced is because the same thing can be done in another country at a fraction of the cost. You bring back all the manufacturing, prices will absolutely skyrocket like crazy.
