Honestly, if the wargame is being set in a modern or historical setting, I prefer it to be as realistic as possible... The reason is, I don't really WANT to go blow somebodies head off in real life, but I want to have the experience of combat as close to real as I can WITHOUT actually being there. That's the fun of playing wargames, not the slash and dash, but the realism without it being real. I think it's boring to add in all the extra junk becuase it skews the battlefield in a sense. If I want to play an action or sci-fi or fantasy game, I want it to be in an action or sci-fi or fantasy world, not in a world with the 5th Marine Expeditionary unit, or the 3rd ID, or the 12 Cav, or the 82nd airborn. The point of games is to give you stuff you can't do it real life. If you're playing life what fun is that?

I don't belong here either but I wanted to echo Sarai's comment about Battlefront II, I haven't played it but I have the first one, and it's cool.

Let me mention that the best game ever made with an "RPG setting" in the traditional sense was not in fact an RPG, but rather, an action adventure game known as Zel....nope.
